A Brief History

In the Beginning

On March 3, 1998 a group of fifty-four mission minded individuals gathered at First Methodist Church in Downtown Houston, Texas. Dr. Asbury Lenox chaired the organizational meeting. Bishop Woodrow Hearn and Dr. William H. (Bill) Hinson shared experiences and gave direction to Alliance of Christian Mission efforts that would distribute food, seed, water, clothes and health care to the poor and victims of disasters. Christian Alliance for Humanitarian Aid, Inc. received its Certificate of Incorporation and 501c3 status on June 22, 1998. This year marks our fifteenth year of service.

What We Are

Christian Alliance is an ecumenical ministry serving churches, other non- profit corporation and missionaries throughout the United States and the world to provide food, water, mobile medical clinics and medical supplies to those most in need. As a disaster relief organization with a goal for humanitarian aid, the Alliance is joined with more than 300 churches, and civic organizations around the world and ships relief support to the poor, hungry, sick, and homeless every year.

Christian Alliance for Humanitarian Aid, Inc. has been determined to be exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501 (a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501(c)3 and donors are authorized to make donations as provided in section 170.

Forging Ahead

Christian Alliance for Humanitarian Aid, Inc. continues to lead the way forward. Getting help to those most in need. Devastation from Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Tsunami, and Earthquakes strikes all over the face of the Globe. This organization faced its own disaster in June 19, 2006. Their 64k sq. ft. warehouse burned to the ground. That was not enough to throw in the towel but it was enough for this organization to rebuild and retool marching full speed ahead. Breaking News…Christian Alliance is now celebrating 15 years of service and announces the start of construction for a new state-of-the Art facility in beautiful Pearland, Texas. Christian Alliance is able to respond right here at home and abroad to wherever those are who are most in need. Thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors, churches, community-based agencies, individuals, and the families of those who serve.

Moved Offices:
In January Christian Alliance move its’ office head quarters and food warehouse to facility located at 8244 Lockheed Ave., Houston, TX 77061. Our original phone number is being transferred and our new numbers are (713) 644-2010, and Fax (713) 422-2413.
A&M United Methodist Church has built a Medical Clinic that is being sent to the Methodist Church in Belmopan, Belize. Christian Alliance is adding medical equipment and supplies.
Working with Mercy and Sharing, Christian Alliance is staging relief supplies to be sent to Port au Prince, Haiti.
Working with Rotary International, Christian Alliance is sending a 40’ container of rice, beans and canned food to the Rotary Club in Managua to help with their feeding project at the Dump.
A joint effort between Memorial Drive UMC, Clear Lake UMC, Windsor Village UMC and Christian Alliance sent a Medical Clinic to Kenya where Pastor Kibe currently has oversight for the building of the Kingdom Builders Center in Kenya which includes a residential children’s facility for orphans, a library for the Center and the community and a Medical facility.
Niarobi, Kenya:
Working with Buckner Children & Family Services of Mesquite, Texas, a Mobile Medical Clinic was sent to Baptist Children's Centre in Nairobi, Kenya in April of this year.
South Dakota:
On June 22 Christian Alliance with Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church sent a Medical Clinic to the Takini School, located on the Indian Reservation in Howes, South Dakota. The members of Saint Dunstan's refurbished the Medical Clinic donated by Christian Alliance.
Medical Relief:
Medical supplies and equipment are available and given freely to those requiring assistance.
Local Hunger Relief:
Our local food distribution continues to grow with more church and mission groups distributing food locally and in Central America.
In March Christian Alliance shipped 2 Mobile Medical Clinics to the Lutheran Village Project in Haiti.
Local Missions:
On May 15th we were blessed to provide water, candy, hot dogs and a 40' X 70' Tent for a street party held on Change the World weekend. We also delivered rice and beans to several locations to be packed for local distribution and disaster relief.
Disaster Relief:
In April two truckloads of water were sent to Alabama following the Tornadoes. A Mobile Medical Clinic was shipped to Joplin, Missouri to assist in relief efforts after the recent tornado disaster. Rev. Daniel H. Wermuth II, Lead Pastor of Joplin Family Worship Center is supervising the operation of the clinic. The clinic was equipped with medical supplies, health care kits, water, blankets and other needed supplies.
West Texas:
During the summer Christian Alliance provided much need aid in the form of bottled water, juice and shakes to the fire fighters battling the blazes in West Texas.
Earthquake January 12, 2010, Christian Alliance partners with area churches to send eight mobile medical clinics to Haiti. Each clinic filled with medicines, medical supplies, wheel chairs, crutches, personal energy vehicles (P.E.T.) powered by using your arms instead of legs, and other medical supplies. This is an ongoing project.
Third Ward Festival
of Sharing:
Saturday, May 22, Christian Alliance with Trinity East United Methodist and Windsor Village United Methodist Church gave free medical exams and food to hundreds of residents in the area.
Two cargo containers containing building supplies, a tractor, gardening tools, clothing and other various supplies and equipment were shipped for Mike Eden Ministries, Inc. of Hempstead, Texas..
Local Hunger Relief:
Christian Alliance continues its' local and international food distribution with many mission groups, and food pantries participating to distribute food to individuals and families.
A Mobile Medical Clinic was shipped to the Foundation of Mercy and Sharing in Port au Prince, Haiti, and a 40' cargo container filled with x-ray equipment, medical supplies, clothing and misc. supplies was shipped to Adventist Hospital also in Port au Prince.
Hurricane Ike:
September/October -Christian Alliance partners with the Pearland Police Force, the American Red Cross Mobile feeding sites, and over 100 ministries and organizations involved in first response or disaster cleanup and distributing food and cleanup supplies to displaced victims.
10 Year Anniversary:

Grand Opening
of Free Medical Clinic
in Riviera:
On Saturday, February 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. opening ceremony for the medical clinic on a monthly basis, registered nurses from Kingsville are providing blood pressure and diabetes screening, and wellness counseling. The goal is to low income citizens of Riviera, Riviera Beach, Loyola Beach, Vattman, Sarita and the farm and ranch families in between.This is a wonderful example of churches and mission teams working together for the common good.
Local Hunger Relief:
Christian Alliance continues its local food distribution with many mission groups participating with volunteers who pack rice and beans.
Hurricane Gustavo:
On September 6, relief supplies were sent to Jefferson United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana to be distributed to hurricane victims.
Builds Medical Clinic:
Christian Alliance partnered with this College Station church to purchase and convert a 40 ft unit into a portable medical clinic. The container was delivered during October. A&M students worked around class schedules to complete and return the unit by May 2008 for eventual use in the Brownsville area.
Atascocita UMC
Builds Medical Clinic:
In April, Atascocita United Methodist Church purchased a 40’ shipping container from Christian Alliance and built a beautiful medical clinic. After equipping with exam tables, dental chair and other supplies, it was consecrated in a ceremony in October, and eventually provided to the Riviera Texas United Methodist Church for outreach ministry to the local farming community.
New Food
Distribution Sites:
Distribution expanded to neighborhoods in Pasadena, Fresno and South Houston.
Post Katrina Support:
Additional Containers of relief supplies were sent to Camp Good News in New Orleans for distribution by Somebody Cares and to Beaumont, TX for distribution by local churches/ civic organizations.
Surgical Clinic
for Sudan:
During February, a 40 ft Surgical Clinic was sent to Mombassa, Kenya for further shipment to Sudan. The OR clinic was equipped with table, light, IV poles, gurneys, anesthesia unit, instrument trays, AC unit, fans, sinks, and surgery packs. This was the first Surgical Unit built by Christian Alliance.
Medical Clinic to
New Orleans:
January 17, a portable medical clinic was sent to Camp Good News, City Park in partnership with Operation Blessing and Somebody Cares Houston.
Warehouse Space
Warehouse Associates of Houston donated additional warehouse space located at 4350 Town Plaza, Houston, Texas 77045, just south of the Astrodome.
Warehouse Space
Christian Alliance leased warehouse space on Produce Row in Houston, preserving the capability of receiving and distributing food.
Fire Destroyed
During a storm on June 19, an electrical fire destroyed our 64,000 – square foot warehouse building and millions of dollars worth of donations in food and supplies from churches and nonprofit groups. Operating by generator power for weeks, Christian Alliance recommitted to fulfilling its mission and calling to support the poor and its ministry partners.
Food Distribution
and Medical Services
Christian Alliance continued to distribute food and operate its Medical Clinics in Port Houston and Third Ward, an urban blighted area.
A new 2,000 sq. ft. (Industrial Grade) refrigerator - freezer was installed to extend shelf life of donated frozen foods.
Hurricane Emily:
The northeast coast of Mexico, especially the town of Carboneras, was devastated. . A 53’ container packed with relief supplies and a 53’ Mobile Medical Clinic was sent to provide immediate aid.
Health Fairs:
More than 75,000 lbs. of food and beverages were provided to Mayor’s Citizens Assistance Office/Heights Family Health Fair; over 800 families were served.
Port Houston
Elementary School:
Approximately 85,000 lbs. of food and beverages were distributed at Port Houston Elementary School / Cinco de Mayo celebration; over 900 families were served.
Community Health
Care Stations:
Grace Project Houston designed and constructed two Health Care Stations to be placed in Port Houston and Third Ward. Each facility anchors outreach efforts to promote proper health care, distribute food staples and coordinate community involvement for local job assistance and placement.
Medical Relief:
A Mobile Medical Relief project was launched to aid the twelve countries that were hit by the tragic Tsunami on December 26, 2004. Christian Alliance partnered with twenty three local churches to build 24 Medical Clinics out of 40’ steel shipping containers. The clinic was comprised of two medical exam stations, a dental station and a doctor’s office.
Hurricane Rita
(CAT 3):
September 24 Rita made landfall between Sabine Pass, Texas and Johnson’s Bayou, Louisiana. The Pearland Police was supplied with fresh fruit and drinks for stranded motorists and evacuees. Subsequently, medical clinics and containers of food and water were distributed to areas hit hardest.
Hurricane Katrina
(Cat 3):
August 29, Katrina hits New Orleans causing a breach in the levee system. Christian Alliance responds with medical clinics and a dental clinic being sent into the area. These clinics provided services for the next two years. Also containers of hurricane relief products including water and Pepsi products, non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, bleach and blankets were shipped.

to Grenada:
Three containers of relief supplies were sent including a medical clinic, missionary living quarters fully equipped with kitchen, bathroom and sleeping area, plus a container of disaster relief supplies.
Right Here:
A model Mission Station was built on the property of Christian Alliance, consisting of a medical clinic, housing unit and storage/office unit built from three 40’ foot shipping containers. This model site serves to educate adults and young people on mission ministry opportunities.
Ghana, S. Africa
& S. America:
Containers of educational materials and text books were sent to Ghana South Africa and South America in partnership with Rotary Club International.
Mexico, Central
America, Iraq
& North Korea:
Christian Alliance and Operation Blessing partnered to ship over $5,000,000 of medicine to Mexico, Central America, Iraq and North Korea and other third world countries.

With Hunger Plus, a container of rice and beans was sent to Haiti.

South Africa, Kenya
and Nicaragua:
Containers of relief supplies were shipped to South Africa, Kenya and Nicaragua.

El Paso-Juarez and
Mulukuku, Nicaragua:
Medical Clinics shipped to El Paso-Juarez area and the refugee center of Mulukuku, Nicaragua.

Alliance for Africa:
Christian Alliance formed the Alliance for Africa.
The Philippines:
Used school books were sent to Southern Philippines Methodist College sponsored by the Texas Conference of the Methodist Church
Humanitarian Aid
A shipment of Pinto Beans was sent to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and also a shipment of Humanitarian aid was sent to La Ceiba, Honduras.
Flood Relief:
Christian Alliance provided local relief after Tropical Storm Allison devastates Houston even while sustaining major damage to its office facilities due to flooding.
Bombay India:
Bottled water and medical supplies were sent to Bombay, India to aid flood victims.
El Salvador:
Container loads of aid were sent to El Salvador.
Relief Supplies:
Containers of Humanitarian aid were sent to Uganda, El Salvador, La Ceiba, Honduras, and a shipment of text books was shipped to South Africa.
Hurricane Keith:
Twenty truckloads of relief supplies were sent to Belize to help thousands after the disaster.
Humanitarian Aid:
Christian Alliance partnered with Medical Bridges and United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) sent a Medical Clinic to Mombassa, Kenya.
Christian Alliance partnered with Texaco to provide 2 containers of food relief to war–torn Angola.
Medical Relief:
Christian Alliance, partnering with Patty Brock (Medical Bridges) and Dr. Ferdinand Masau shipped containers of medical equipment and supplies to start The Tanzanian Heart Institute.
Hurricane Mitch:
Two shiploads of disaster supplies were sent to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador after devastating floods killed thousands. These emergency shipments saved thousands of lives.
North Korea Famine Relief:
Thirteen containers of food and 800,000 packets of seeds and fertilizer were sent for families to grow their own food. Partnering with Manna Mission of USA a bakery was shipped and installed at Chongjin along with all of the ingredients to make bread for local school children.
Flood Relief:
Twenty containers of water and other hurricane relief supplies were the first to arrive in Venezuela after flooding that caused loss of many lives and left thousands homeless.
